Katie Manion has been a long time advocate for animal and human welfare. She has been a "Clean & Preen," foster and fundraising volunteer at the Chicago Anti-Cruelty Society since 2005, and recently started working with the dogs in their new program, S.A.F.E. (Short-term Accommodations for Emergencies) which works with families in crisis to provide temporary shelter for their companion animals. Katie has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of South Carolina with a minor in organizational behavior. After college, she worked as a case manager for the Child and Family Team at a community mental health center in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for four years. During her time in Jackson, she was also appointed to the Board of Directors for Teton County Parks and Recreation, became certified for National Critical Stress Management, and adopted her dog Emma (with a raging case of Parvovirus) from a municipal shelter. She is currently employed with Banc of America Securities' Global Industries Group and serves on the Board of Directors for the Suszette McKay Memorial Foundation, benefiting University of Chicago Hospital's Pulmonary Fibrosis research. Katie and Emma currently reside in Chicago near the shores of Lake Michigan.

Matthew Gonzales was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington Ohio. Matthew moved to Miami, Florida and received his B.A. in Management Information Systems from Florida International University. He has over 5 years experience managing Information Technology and has recently taken a position with The Ohio State University as a Systems Manager for the Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics department. On top of taking a on a new job, Matthew and his wife have also added a new member to the family. They have recently adopted a Black Lab mix named Killian. He and his wife live in the Dublin, Ohio area with their cat Sassy and their dogs Layla and Killian. Matthew and his wife also enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, going to movies and of course spending time with their pets.
